HEY THERE LONG LOST FRIENDS!!!
I'm so sorry that it's been so long! I took a little unplanned break from blogging this summer. It was awesome. It was crazy. It was insane. It was youth ministry. And I loved it.
The thing is, is that today's delight was working the same job that I had this summer when I met him over a year ago. I interviewed him in APRIL, but life got cray and here we are in August (oops). The coolest thing about Jeremy is that he just gets people. Seriously, I knew him for just FOUR DAYZ of Summer '13 and now we are life long friends. His desire to connect with others is compassionate and electric with energy! He's cray, he's hilarious, he's loud, he's Jeremy Dixon.
So, Jeremy Dixon who are you?
I’m a passionate, fun-loving, music-listening, new-friend-meetin, can’t-stop-moving, adrenaline-junky, Christ follower.
Where did you grow up?
My dad was a Lt. Col and Surgeon for the Army when I was growing up so we moved around from South Carolina to Germany back to South Carolina then to Arkansas and ended up in a town called Benton, Arkansas when my dad got out of the Army.
What’s your favorite color and why?
Blue! It’s the color of the sky and ocean/lake and who doesn’t love all those things?! I’m the lake’s number one fan. Blue is just peaceful I think.
Jeremy's crazy because....
I’ve had tons of stitches, 2 concussions, 6 busted out teeth, punctured a lung…but never broken a bone.
I learned to walk living in Germany
I’m a state champion Slalom Skier.
I go spear fishing a lot.
I love Kanakuk Kamps! I was a camper for 10 years and then a counselor.
Food that best describes you?
Sushi because it’s always a little risky and from the water. Also pretty raw. But I’d slap anyone who tries to dip me in soy sauce.
When did you find Jesus?
I was raised in a family where we went to church every time the doors were open, all we watched was Vegietales, and all we read was children books about Bible stories. So I knew who Jesus was for a long time but when I was 6 years old I finally understood how I needed this Jesus.
Favorite Passage of Scripture:
II TIMOTHY 1:7-9 "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began"
I’ve been called to go and tell others about Jesus where it might not be the safest place but this verse promises that God gave me a spirit of power, love, and self control and not of fear. Max Lucado says “Fear doesn’t want you to make the journey to the mountain. If he can rattle you enough, fear will persuade you to take your eyes off the peaks and settle for a dull existence in the flatlands.” I love that I can have power, love, and self-control and not fear. I’m excited to not play it safe but rather live by faith.
What is a passion you have?
Call me nerdy but I love networking and meeting new people!
Why Ouachita Baptist University?
I knew I was called to ministry and didn’t want to move away really far. My youth pastor went here and would take me up to see games. We always had interns at my home church from OBU and I really looked up to them. Ouachita is known for their Christian Studies department and I was looking to major in just that.
Who are you at OBU?
I’m a Christian Studies and Mass Communication double major. I’ve also taken a lot of sport coaching class and outdoor recreation classes. I’m very involved on campus and currently the executive Vice President of Student Senate, WOW leader, Tiger Serve Day Leadership team, Ouachita Student Foundation Recruitment Team, and the secretary of my fraternity.
What are your dreams?
My dreams are to serve God whatever that means. I just have a passion for building relationships with people. My dream is to do full time ministry and raise kids who will be warriors for Christ.
What’s the Dixon family like?
My family is so goofy and fun. My dad is hilarious and the hardest worker alive on planet Earth. He is a General Surgeon and has a passion for people. My mom is the most Godly woman I’ve ever known and servant hearted. She is a RN Nurse but mainly my dad’s office manager. My brother is two years younger and has become one of my best friends, he is loyal and caring. He’s a freshman at OBU. My sister is 6 years younger and is witty, hilarious, compassionate and an incredible musician. I have the absolute best family in the world.
Favorite Place You’ve Traveled To?
This last spring break I went with two of my best friends and my little brother to the Grand Canyon! It was huge and gorgeous. We camped a lot and also hiked 13 miles that was a 4000 ft elevation difference in one day. The road trip was so worth it.
How I met Mikaela:
Ok so this was CRAZY! I was an intern all summer at her home church and became friends with her younger brother but Mikaela was in Texas all summer working. At the end of the summer Mikaela got back and both of us were hanging out at the youth pastor’s house where I met her for the first time. I didn’t know her last name at the time to know her brother was her brother. So, the next day I was with Dakota and walked into his house and Mikaela was standing in the kitchen. We were both so confused why either of us was there. Eventually it ended in a good laugh and endless hanging out until I left 4 days later to go back to Arkansas. FUN FACT: Mikaela and I have only seen each other 14 days out of our entire friendship since the summer of 2013.
What does being radiant mean to you?
Some words that come to mind are glowing, beaming, luminous, and bright. It means being a simple compass for how to live life, receive the truest joy, and shining the light towards the person of Jesus. The passage Matthew 5:14-16 comes to mind - “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

I am Jeremy Dixon and this is my R A D I A N T story.
I remember talking with you at Gooch's pool the second day (out of four) realizing that you would just been one of those friends that I'd know forever. We had some mutual friends at Liberty and you understood the camp life that I had just lived. I think about the next night when we swing danced in the parking lot while Caitie stood by my car and laughed. It was like those 4 days were 4 months in a friendship. You shared your passions about Long Hollow & student ministry. Caitie and I tried to persuade you to come to Liberty (obvi you didnt but I don't hold you against it-- But Liberty is better) You were in a group message with over 15 of my Liberty friends for like 3 months. You call me for ideas and we bounce off of each other's creativity. Your passion for life is noisy and crazy but that's just it. You just love Jesus while doing you---and that's what I find outstanding in you. It makes you shine with His R A D I A N T light.
