Everyone meet my gorgeous and beyond beautiful sister in Christ, Chelsea Martin. We met when we worked together in Texas at summer camp and lived in the same cabin for over a month. We stayed up many nights laughing and cherishing little moments sitting on the front porch together. During our twenty minute breaks in staff training we’d run back to the cabins to take naps, even one time missing evening worship. In those hot Texas days together, we got to know each other’s hearts and this has carried over to our dorm rooms. Chels pushes me to pursue people with a divine love that is full of joy.
So Chelsea Martin who are you?
I am someone that loves love. My parents have displayed love to me and instilled that to me in the way they love each other. They have taught me to love in Christ’s love. In that, I define myself as someone who cares about people.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida.
What’s your favorite color?
Yellow! I really like suns and they are bright and happy.
Chelsea's Quirks
I used to have a really ‘outie’ belly button.
I coach elementary cheerleading.
I’ve always wanted to be a mermaid. I believe they are real.
I really like horseback riding but I’ve only done it twice.
What did you want to be when you were little?
I wanted to be a singer and a fashion designer. I was obsessed with music. My mom always wanted to be in the opera and when I was little I had an opportunity to be in the opera at school so she lived vicariously through me.
Food that best describes you? (this is Mikaela's favorite answer yet)
Chicken Tenders. They are always on the menu. So, I always want to always be there for people.
When did you find Jesus?
I was four years old. It was Spiritual Emphasis Week at my Christian school and I gave my life to Christ. I remember it vividly. Then when I was on a 9th grade mission trip in Costa Rica, I rededicated my life because I was finding my worth in many other things and in sports and how people viewed me. I knew the way I was living wasn’t reflecting Christ. My relationship has grown even more since I came to Liberty.
Favorite Passage of Scripture:
I found this awesome while reading last night.
Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”
I need to read this every time I feel numb. Am I really seeking to find Him? I’m scared of numbness in Christ. When you put your trials in God’s hands you are suppose to take your hands away. Don’t be scared of that feeling, give it over completely. This scripture reminds me to seek Him out.
What is a passion you have?
This summer I found I have a passion for middle school girls. I want to be a guidance counselor in schools. I don’t want to just try and 'fix' them, I really want to catch them and teach them about the things that will hurt them.
How I Knew Mikaela: (from Chelsea’s point of view)
All of our freshman year, Mik and I had a mutual friend and I always saw her in pictures. She didn't know I knew her and I had done the typical Facebook stalking. BUT the thing is I didn’t tell her until two weeks into the summer after we met at camp and truly became friends. I waited to tell her so she wouldn’t make fun of me for creeping on her.
What does being radiant mean to you?
I think it means being so filled with God’s love and joy that every single person around you can feel it and it pours onto to them. I’ve been seeing a lot of people proclaim the love Jesus but don’t have love for other people. And God has told me to look at myself and be an example of what I want to see in other people.

I am Chelsea Martin and this is my R A D I A N T story.
Chels, I’ll never forget spending the first five minutes with you and thinking to myself that you would be in my wedding someday. From our endless late night talks and rolls of laughter to our off nights and riding in my car with the boys laughing till we cried because ants were on my computer. Last semester you taught me one of the best lessons, to love without caution. Your personality is giddiness and goodness in Christ; which make you R A D I A N T.
